The Director General of the Mining Registry (CAMI), Popol Mabolia, took part, on August 28, in a conference-debate organized by students in public and industrial economics at the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN) under the theme "promoting sustainable development through responsible mining in the DRC".

Himself an economist by training, the DG of CAMI, working alongside the vice-dean in charge of scientific research at this university establishment, sparked students' interest in the mining sector.

Mr. Mabolia presented the missions of CAMI, emphasizing “its important role in cleaning up the mining sector and its impact on sustainable development in the DRC.” He highlighted the importance of responsible resource management, compliance with procedures, and environmental protection to attract investors and support the global energy transition.

In recognition of his commitment to the scientific community as well as his high sense of responsibility and accountability, CAMI CEO Popol Mabolia received a 2024 Excellence and Research Award. This distinction was awarded to him by the Circle of Students in Public and Industrial Economics (CERPI), which encourages him to continue on this path.

The day's conference ended with a question-and-answer session between the main speaker and the students.
