Present at the annual United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), the head of the Congolese government, Judith Suminwa Tuluka, spoke out for the DRC to win the fight for fair financial compensation for carbon credits.

"Climate change is a key issue for both the future of the world and sustainable development in our country. Beyond that, we are in a position to be able to change the world in relation to our strategic hydraulic and mineral resources. It is important that our voice, today, can carry ," she said.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister insisted on the fight that the Democratic Republic of Congo is leading. "As a solution country, it is important to be able to be rewarded fairly in relation to our position as the [first] lung of the world. At the same time, we have an interest in preparing ourselves in relation to the transformation that we want to give to the energy transition for our development. It is important ," she insisted.
For the moment, the participation of the DRC in this global event is to see how to defend its potential in the same way as other countries with which the DRC shares the same position. "We must recover financially what will allow us to accelerate our development. The most important thing is to make our voice heard and ensure that our country is well compensated. This is not a reward ," said the Congolese Prime Minister.
Judith Suminwa Tuluka has been participating in the annual United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) since Tuesday, November 12. Upon her arrival in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, she was welcomed by Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The conference is being held at the Baku Olympic Stadium.
An impressive number of nearly 67,000 people have registered to take part in this grandiose global event, including climatologists, UN officials, union leaders, diplomats, political experts and journalists.
