The Minister of Finance, Doudou Fwamba, notes that these funds are allocated in particular to the Local Development Program of the 145 territories (PDL-145T), to infrastructure and road projects in the provinces and to infrastructure development projects in the city of Kinshasa.
DRC: more than 160 million USD disbursed for the relaunch of infrastructure projects
These funds were disbursed only for this month of October 2024, with a view to relaunching urgent infrastructure projects in the DRC. For the closure of the first phase of PDL 145T and other infrastructure in the provinces, USD 59,729,397 was paid to the executing agencies, namely BCECO: USD 24,732,160, for 181 works; CFEF: USD 7,645,000, for 635 works and finally for UNDP: USD 27,352,237, to complete and finance the works.
As for five provinces of the DRC, they benefit from funds for their respective infrastructure. This is particularly the case for Tshopo with USD 17 million for more than 33 km of roads and other local projects; Kasai-Central received 17 million for 41 km of urban roads and Ituri (13 million). Other provinces such as Kasai Oriental, Sankuru, Kongo Central and North Kivu are also concerned.
As for the city of Kinshasa, 25 million USD were released for roads and the fight against erosion, with a payment of 4,587,410 USD for the start of work around the central market. And another payment of the second installment of 45 million USD was made for the Arena project in Kinshasa.
It should be noted that the Minister of Finance made recommendations including the strengthening of the monitoring and evaluation framework for said projects, the establishment of the financial and technical control mechanism to ensure that financing complies with the macroeconomic framework and promote transparency and project management to guarantee their sustainability.
