The High Council of the Judiciary (CSM), headed by Dieudonné Kamuleta, also President of the Constitutional Court, and Jean-Paul Mukolo Nkokesha, Attorney General at the Constitutional Court, reaffirmed, following its meeting with Judith Suminwa, Prime Minister, this Thursday, August 5, its desire to work in close collaboration with the other powers of the State.

The CSM formally denied any tension with the executive branch, in connection with the recent events at Makala prison. "Do not put us in a confrontational approach," declared Dieudonné Kamuleta. "We are in an approach such that, all together, we can advance public affairs. This is why we have a framework for consultation, which has existed all this time. We are determined to ensure that the Republic can emerge a winner," he said.

He added: "We do not see any institution that is not concerned with the smooth running of our country. We must collaborate because we all belong to the institutions of the country. There is no individual solution or miracle. The solution for the smooth running of our country will come through the collaboration and the hand of all institutions. In this, we will succeed in spreading the vision of the supreme magistrate, the head of state."

This meeting was also an opportunity for the CSM to present its budget forecasts for the coming financial year.

Also, this meeting was held in a context marked by the CSM's call, launched the day before, inviting magistrates to continue arrests and to continue to exercise their functions in accordance with the law, despite recent directives from the Ministry of Justice restricting the transfers of detainees to the prisons of Makala and Ndolo.
