The school year has been back in effect since Monday, September 2 in the DRC. In the Haut-Uele province, this return to school was very timid following calls to observe the strike launched by teachers' unions. To do this, Governor Jean Bakomito took it upon himself to sensitize parents to send their children to school. He visited some schools in Isiro last Monday.

From the Isiro Institute (Athénée), to the Petits Anges school complex, two institutions respectively public and private, the head of the provincial executive noted the effectiveness of the 2024-2025 school year, with a low presence of pupils and schoolchildren.

"It's the start of the school year and classes have resumed but in a very timid manner. Out of nearly 200 students registered for example here at the Isiro Institute, only 25 showed up. It's true that there were messages talking about a strike, but we can see here that the teachers are there and that the students will have to go back to school," stressed Jean Bakomito.

At the Les Petits Anges school complex, on the other hand, the governor of Haut-Uele noted with satisfaction the total success of the start of the school year. On site, he also motivated teachers and students to continue on the same path for the happy conclusion of the new school year.

This hypothetical announced return to school comes in the context of the continuation of talks between the union bench and the Congolese government on the improvement of teachers' salary conditions. And since Kinshasa, the synergy of teachers' unions had conditioned the return to school, by a salary scale of $500 for a teacher in public institutions.
