The Congolese literary scene is enriched with the release of a new book by the poet-slam poet Youssef Branh. Called “Etcetera”, it is the eighth collection of poems by this young writer at almost 25 years of age. Youssef had first spent two years of silence before making public this book which he says is also a collection of paper butterflies.

The book experience promises to be poetic, immersive and revolutionary. More than a simple collection, “Etcetera” aims to be a bold adventure in the world of oral poetry. Youssef Branh, famous for his stage performances, creates here a bridge between the written and the oral, offering texts designed to captivate his listeners. Each poem becomes a vibrant dialogue, an invitation to live poetry fully.

With “Etcetera”, Youssef Branh seems to take a new turn towards a more modern and urban poetry. This collection, tailored for the stage, is part of an approach of artistic and personal renewal.

An artist's commitment to Congolese culture

Since his beginnings, Youssef Branh has established himself as a tireless defender of Congolese culture. In 2020, he founded Éditions Mikanda before launching, in 2024, the Mikanda cultural center in the commune of Ndjili, to continue promoting the arts and literature. This commitment is reflected in “Etcetera” where tradition and modernity blend harmoniously.

The announcement of this new collection sparked a wave of enthusiasm on social networks, testifying to the artist's profound impact on the public. In a few hours, comments multiplied, reflecting the impatience and joy of finding the pen of the one who calls himself "Great Poet". His words, simple but powerful, continue to touch souls.

The release of this gem is scheduled for mid-September, accompanied by a tour of shows. More than just a book, this collection promises to be a major literary event, transforming each reading into a deeply human experience. By redefining contemporary poetry, Youssef Branh invites his audience to follow him in this new poetic adventure.

The book tour will be combined with a show with the author, Negue Fly and Calvin Ngao, other Congolese poets. In Kinshasa, the show will be presented on September 10 at Ndaku ya la vie est belle, on September 14 at Wallonie-Bruxelles, on September 21 at Éditions Miezi, on September 28 at Ntongo Elamu, on October 12 at Aw'art, on October 19 at the University of Kinshasa, on October 16 at the Mikanda cultural center; other dates are to be confirmed.
