The Leopards of the DRC have started their preparation since Monday, August 2 in Kinshasa for the first two days of the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations (CAN), Morocco 2025. They will host the Sily National of Guinea, Friday, September 6 at the Martyrs stadium then in Dar-es-salaam in Tanzania, they will be welcomed on Monday, September 9 by the Walyas (Ethiopia).

Seven months after the third place lost at the CAN in Côte d'Ivoire against South Africa on penalties (5-6) and three months after the victory over Togo (2-0) on the 4th day of the qualifiers for the World Cup, the Congolese wild animals are back in action. No surprise, this is an important step in this qualifying campaign for Sébastien Desabre and his men, who are determined not to let the first matches slip by. In this way, the French technician is committed to being the most rigorous with his entire team to start this campaign well with a victory.

"It's a new competition that will be played in two parts and the qualifications that will take place in three months. So we are approaching it like a competition. All the teams are on an equal footing and we have to approach these first matches well to get off to a good start in the qualification. We will have some tough opponents ahead of us but as usual, we will try to be as serious as possible to start this campaign with a victory," confided Sébastien Desabre to the federation's communications department.

Before continuing:

"We have done good work for two years and we have progressed. I don't think we are favourites. What interests us is to do better than what we did the last time we were last when we came. It is a long road with two stages. There is a first stage is the qualification. And there are only two qualified out of the four teams. It is up to us to be the best performer for these six matches."

Let us recall that the Leopards of the DRC had a bad start to the last campaign of the CAN Côte d'Ivoire qualifiers, where they finished in 4th place. In order to guarantee a favorable continuation and qualification, Sébastien Desabre and his players must obtain a good result.
